lahznimmo represents a refreshing anomaly in architectural practice - pairing the depth, experience and capability of a large commercial firm with the personalised service and responsiveness of a smaller studio. With over 30 years of experience, we are continually evolving - building on our knowledge, embracing new ideas and innovations, and fostering generational change and renewal.
Our portfolio spans a rich diversity of projects, from small-scale community buildings for local councils to large, complex educational and cultural facilities for government and university clients. Across this broad spectrum, our work is defined by a deep interest in the interplay between landscape, urban design, and architecture.
Our practice has been widely recognised for design excellence, receiving numerous Australian Institute of Architects awards at both State and National levels across Residential, Commercial, Public Architecture, and Urban Design categories.Notably, our practice has received the AIA’s National Walter Burley Griffin Award for Urban Design on an unprecedented three occasions, as well as the prestigious Sir Zelman Cowen Award for Public Architecture.

Founders Andrew Nimmo and Annabel Lahz are joined by a new generation of leadership—Directors Brad Cogger and Hugo Cottier, and Associate Patrick Love—supported by a talented team of architects and collaborators.

We design our systems to work efficiently for both our team and clients. Continuous improvement is fostered through a culture of learning - via staff-led Knowledge Tree sessions, CPD presentations, and external training. We actively mentor our team and support pathways to architectural registration.
technology
For over 25 years, we’ve worked in a BIM environment using ArchiCAD as our primary platform. This enables precise 3D coordination with consultants via IFC exchange.
All projects are documented in 3D from concept to construction, allowing for live model updates, visualisations, and in-house rendering throughout the design process. This collaborative workflow ensures clarity, efficiency, and design confidence.
